Melanie has been an educator for over 25 years. She began her career in education as a school caseworker right out of college, but seeing teaching in the classroom that disappointed her, she went back to school at Texas Women’s University to receive her secondary teaching certification in English.
After earning her certification, Melanie taught middle school Language Arts, received her English as a Second Language Endorsement along the way, then made the “big jump” to teaching high school English.
While teaching high school English, Melanie was selected by her principal to participate in the first district “teacher to administrator” cohort in Dallas Independent School District where she earned her principal certification and M.Ed. through the University of North Texas.
Melanie has been a teacher in two states and five school districts, trained new teachers, supervised potential teachers in the alternative certification program, supervised teachers as an administrator, and homeschooled her two sons…so it’s safe to say she has a heart for teachers!
Her passion for the profession and her heart for teachers were the catalyst for here4teachers.
Melanie hopes every teacher everywhere will be blessed by here4teachers…but she’ll start with Texas!
